Katy Book Wars Informational Meeting There will be an informational meeting about the Katy Book Wars on Tuesday, September 28th at 8 a.m. in the library. Learn more about this event, review the Lone Star Book list, and form your team! Important Information from your AJH Counselors KAP & High School Credit Course Failures We have ow completed the end of our 1st 6 weeks grading period! Students who failed a KAP or High School Credit course(s) on their 1st 6 weeks report card will be dropped from the class. Those in a KAP course will be moved into the academic course for that subject. Students in Algebra will be moved to 8th grade Math. Students in a High School Credit elective course will be moved to a new elective (one that is not for High School Credit) that has availability. It is not guaranteed that your child’s new class will be during the same period as the previous, which may result in other courses being shifted to accommodate the change. If you have any questions or concerns please contact your child’s teacher. KAP Drop Forms For students taking a KAP course who decide that they would like to drop the course because of difficulty or time constraints, you will need to meet the KAP Course Commitment Requirements. The student will need to complete the “Petition for KAP/Pre-AP Course Exit” form and all of its requirements including, having a parent/teacher conference, attending tutorials, and completing all assignments for the class. More information about the KAP Course Commitment can be found on our AJH Counseling website by clicking on the Course Selections tab and under the section titled “Need to Drop a KAP Course?”. The drop form is also available for you to print off. You can visit our counseling site by clicking here: AJH Counselors Website.
If your son or daughter is waiting on COIVD test results, they MUST remain at home until you have the results, even if they are asymptomatic. This is imperative to help minimize the spread of COVID on campus. If your student does test negative kindly send the negative result with your student on the day, they return to school. If your son or daughter tests positive for COVID, please contact the nurse’s office for the next steps and information on Intermittent School to Home Learning as well as your student’s return to school date. If you receive an email that your child has been in a classroom with someone who has tested positive for COVID, there is not currently a requirement to have your child be tested or to quarantine. The KatyISD is leaving this up to each individual family. We ask that you monitor your student for any symptoms and have them tested if you see anything out of the normal for your student. (Cough, Headache, Stomachache, Congestion) Please remember that testing too early can result in a false negative, so it is also important to note that testing the same day you receive the email is not always best practice unless your student is symptomatic. KatyISD is once again, offering free COVID-19 testing to its students at the KatyISD AG Center by appointment only. Appointments can be made on the KatyISD website. All forms for medication, action plans can be found on the Adams Jr High website. Under the Campus tab and then click the Clinic page. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!!! Jen Santore,RN 281-234-3425 Chris Conigliaro 281-234-3426
