Guidelines for Eighth Grade Celebration
On Saturday, May 14, 2022 Adams Junior High is hosting its annual 8th Grade Celebration - “Under The Stars"
The event celebrates the end of Junior High as our 8th graders prepare to start High School. We encourage all 8th graders to attend the event and come celebrate with their friends!

EARLY BIRDS: TICKETS $25 (MARCH 7th - MARCH 23rd, 2022) with 8th grade gift included
GENERAL SALES: TICKETS $ 30 (MARCH 24th - APRIL 23rd, 2022) with 8th grade gift included
LATE SALES: TICKETS $35 (April 24th) 8th grade gift NOT included
PERMISSION SLIP/PAYMENT FORMS AND FEES:
Only students currently enrolled in 8th grade at Adams Junior High at the time of the celebration will be allowed to purchase a ticket and attend the celebration. Each student must purchase his or her own ticket, and is solely allowed to purchase one ticket. Tickets are being sold online on the PTSA website at www.adamsjhptsa.org.
Permission slips are online with ticket purchase.
There will be no ticket refunds.
DROP OFF AND PICK UP:
It is critical that each parent make firm transportation arrangements with their child before leaving him/her at the celebration. We encourage students to attend in groups or as individuals, rather than as dates. Students will need to bring their school ID to check-in with them when entering the celebration.
DROP OFF: Cars will drop off students at the front carpool entrance to the school starting at 5:30 PM.
PICK-UP: The celebration will end promptly at 8:30 p.m. Please start arriving to pick up students at around 8:20PM.
Students will be dismissed in an orderly fashion. Please be on time to pick up your child. Students will not be permitted to walk or ride a bike home, even if this is the way the student arrives and leaves school during the day.
LIMOUSINES, PARTY BUSES AND OTHER STRETCHED VEHICLES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE SCHOOL GROUNDS.
DRESS CODE COMPLIANCE WILL BE CHECKED IMMEDIATELY UPON ENTERING THE CELEBRATION.
The celebration will be a lock-in for security purposes. A security officer and campus administrators will be on duty. During party hours, your student may leave only in the company of his/her parent or another parent that is designated in advance. A signed note must be on file with our check-in committee. The parent or designated adult MUST come into the school to pick up the student and MUST show his/her ID in order for the student to be released to them. Remember - students who leave early will NOT be allowed to return to the celebration.
We suggest that students do not bring valuables or money to the celebration. If they do, the student will be responsible for taking care of personal items.

NO Strapless dresses
NO Off the shoulder dress and NO off the shoulder on one side
NO Full length dresses
Spaghetti straps will be allowed
Halter top dresses will be allowed, but CAN NOT be bare back
The front and back neckline must not come lower than the top of the armpits when arms are extended straight out
See-through mesh will NOT be allowed
Dresses may NOT be shorter than Mid-thigh length and any type of slits in the dress may not be above mid-thigh
NO midriffs are to show, which includes any two-piece outfits that would reveal the midriff
NO cutouts are allowed in the midriff area
All pants must be worn at the waist. Cannot be excessively baggy
NO shorts will be allowed
Shirts or blouses may not be oversized or immodestly undersized
Suit and sports coats are NOT required
NO Tuxedos or hats
When shopping, a good rule of thumb would be to choose clothing that you would be comfortable with your child wearing in a family picture. Please take the time to consider all of the above as students who come dressed inappropriately will be asked to wear a t-shirt over their tops or return home and come back within dress code guidelines.
Dress code violations will be handled in accordance with the Katy ISD Discipline Management Plan (Level II Offense).
Inappropriate behavior will result in removal from the 8th-grade celebration. At such time, parents will be called by an administrator to pick up their child. There will be no refunds to students who are removed from the celebration. All KISD rules will be strictly enforced as explained in the Student Discipline Management Plan.
ADAMS JUNIOR HIGH – 8TH GRADE DANCE
DISCIPLINE POINT SYSTEM FOR EIGHTH GRADE CELEBRATION:
AJH 8th-grade students will have the opportunity to attend the 8th-grade celebration on May 14, 2022. In an effort to maintain and manage student discipline as we end the year, we will instate a point system to determine eligibility for this fun event.
Each level discipline infraction in KISD is classified by a numerical system from 1-5, with 5 being the most serious. Level 4 and 5 disciplinary infractions would result in the student being removed from the AJH campus to an alternative setting. Most of our discipline infractions range from levels 1-3. For this system, each disciplinary consequence will be assigned a point value according to its infraction level. For instance, a Level 2 consequence would equal 2 points on a student’s discipline record.
The following point scale is used in determining a student’s eligibility for the 8th-grade celebration. It is our hope that this will deter students from engaging in behavior that is detrimental to the learning environment.
1 Point ----- Level I Infractions (commonly results in lunch detention)
2 Point ---- Level II Infractions (commonly results in before/after school detention)
3 Point ---- Level III Infractions (often results in ISS)
LOSS OF ELIGIBILITY:
• Students who commit a level 4 or 5 disciplinary infraction at any time during the year will not be able to attend the event.
• Tardies will count towards the point system. Five or more tardies in a six weeks will result in after-school detention which will be 2 points. Four or more ID infractions will result in lunch detention which will be 1 point.
• Students who earn a total of 6 points prior to the dance/party will not be eligible to attend. The point system will start on Tuesday, April 6th and will be active until the day of the dance.
